Winter Break: Day 1

Geoff and sons brave the snow and attend last Street Hockey session. They come home with their first trophies!:: The girls and I watch Creature Comforts and make French eggs:: I get the sewing machine up-- boys finish girls' gifts, I finally finish a banner from Clara's first birthday:: Knitting by the fire:: Lube up cheeks tomorrow-- 2/4 kids got bad wind burn!:: The boys hardly did any writing or drawing today. It's okay:: Geoff plays the piano through our choir songs:: Made chicken pot pie--Manny can make salad by himself-- in a few more tries, he'll be able to toast nuts for the salad:: Geoff reads Aristotle while I finish sewing:: Then we watch 2 Days in Paris by Julie Delpy. We laughed so hard:: Kids are asleep in the family room with the embers glowing.

sounds lovely! How do you stay focused on all the good stuff? Mine would be more like this: folded 4 loads of laundry: nervous wreck while teenage boy takes car out alone (in snow) for the first time: dog poops in house: coffee maker overflows all over counter: fell asleep on couch after enjoying glowing embers for 20 seconds.

okay, I feel a little guilty about my first comment. Let me adjust my attitude: boys play in snow, throwing snowballs and building a snow man, which still survives thanks to the icy rain that followed the snow: Joe, Luci and I finish putting up outside lights, Luci almost falls off roof, but doesn't, lights look beautiful: dog is playful, fun and sweet and enjoys romping in snow: Larry is kind and thoughtful, eager to be of help: Leo makes it home safe from first day driving alone: Adri and Ricky survive treacherous 27 hour trip from Blacksburg and finally arrive safe and sound: we all enjoy a delicious meal of roast chicken, gravy, fresh cranberries and asparagus. Much better! Who cares about laundry and overflowing coffee makers and dog poo?
