Of course, there's a lot to say at ten months. Just this week, we've had a
constellation of firsts:
first sippy cup, first bath in the big tub, yesterday was his first Wake Up
the Earth Festival, first Boca burger, first graham crackers. Among other
firsts in April, Manny got to see his baby sibling at our ultrasound on the
22nd. We're told this babe will arrive around Thanksgiving (I hate due
dates). It seems that babies abound these days and all we can say is, "Wow,
how unstoppable life is."

Generally though, I want to be true to these updates and just say what a
time we're having with Manny Day. These days, he is pulling up to a steady
stand, claps like a hearty Evangelical, and shrieks when he's psyched about
something (getting into the bathtub, sweet cream ice cream from JP licks,
and whenever kitty Maxine is within grasp.) Yesterday, we kept saying, was
like a foretaste of heaven-- watching him play in the sun with people we
love, music playing, children beating drums, grownups explaining the causes
that stir them. Then later, Manny was in his stroller and Geoff fed him a
chocolate ice-cream cone. This baby was voracious; it made a beard around
his mouth and dripped all the way down to his feet. To me, this was
glorious. I wish you could have seen.
