nursery school spring break, masking tape mixed-media, and bubble tea

Just wanted to check in and report on the kids.  Our school started break last Friday and the boys are fond of telling folks that they are on Spring Break.  Geoff joked that they could kick back inflatable poolside, do apple juice shots and rock out to DZ.  Benici has learned to share the stroller with Clara.  "I want to ride as her pillow," he said. We visited the Farmer's Market and they came with me to Clara's play group.
They've been doing this amazing art work with masking tape and paper.  Manny is writing stream of consciousness prose using "creative spelling" as Teacher Kathie calls it.  He also made this 3D, independently standing container for (kind of like a construction paper billfold with feet) coins  of paper.  They want to talk all about King Cobras or "Crobas"  as Nici says.  They want to discuss what they will  do to a bear that tries to attack them.  They also know three different versions of "Jesus Loves Me."  A friend was laughing about Christian culture and referred to something as "so GUBA"  (growing up born again).  I do get this,
believe me, the distaste for a sanitized, bleached-flour Veggie Tales type of culture.  However, that they are getting the love and joy of our God, that they are marinading in that means everything to me.  I want to inundate their fallow hearts, deepen their shining souls.
As for Miss Clara, she is rugged and dainty all in the same breath; we dress her in velvet and lace and yet she digs her fingers into the quilt and drags herself forward.  She grabs the sides of my face and tries to eat it only to reveal her sweet, milky breath.  Between play sessions on her tum, she naps in the sling.  This week, we're going to try solids.  Geoff Beatty will reprise his acclaimed line of "Haute Cuisine de Bebe."  The critics faves were: organic avocado, whipped prune, smooth bananas, and sweet potatoes presented like marigolds in full bloom.
Quote that has informed my parenting the most this month: "Children aren't going to be somebody.  They ARE somebody."  Oh, and we went to Bubble House in U. City and the boys really loved it, the tapioca bubbles and the thick, translucent straws.  We recommend the honeydew.  And look for the waitress that is Lane Kim's doppelganger.
